Favourite holes – 6th at Heythrop Park
Heythrop Park – Hole 6
The 6th at Heythrop Park is the signature hole of the course and I must admit standing on the tee looking down the fairway it does look a great golf hole.

The 6th tee is just to the right of the tall trees on the other side of the water
Hinksey Heights Golf Club moving up in my view
I last played Hinksey way back in 2001 and I must admit the course has improved a lot while still providing some great views of Oxford. The fairways have been flattened out so they are no longer covered with unsightly bumps and the greens are silky smooth to putt on.

Great views of the surrounding Oxrfordshire countryside
Favourite holes – 18th at Wentworth (East)
Wentworth East Course – Hole 18
The East course at Wentworth maybe overshadowed by its Championship hosting younger brother but it does have some wonderful holes along its layout.

Golf during the War
I was browsing a few sites looking into the history of golf and found this, it did make me chuckle.
Richmond Golf Club Temporary Rules – 1941
- Players are asked to collect bomb and shrapnel splinters to save these causing damage to the mowing machines.
- In competitions, during gunfire or while bombs are falling, players may take shelter without penalty for ceasing play.
- The position of known delayed action bombs are marked by red flags at a reasonable, but not guaranteed, safe distance therefrom.
- Shrapnel and/or bomb splinters on the fairways or in bunkers, within a club’s length of a ball, may be moved without penalty, and no penalty shall be incurred if a ball is thereby caused to move accidentally.
- A ball moved by enemy action may be replaced or, if lost or destroyed, a ball may be dropped not nearer the hole without penalty.
- A ball lying in a crater may be lifted and dropped not nearer the hole, preserving the line to the hole, without penalty.
- A player whose stroke is affected by the simultaneous explosion of a bomb may play another ball. Penalty one stroke.
Favourite holes – 5th at The Oxfordshire Golf Club
Oxfordshire Golf Club – hole 5
It’s quite funny how many of my favourite holes are par 3’s, I suppose it must be the excitement of standing on the tee with the possibility of getting a hole in one.

A lot of water to carry on the 5th hole at The Oxfordshire
Weekly Photo Challenge: Unfocused
Tricky one this week as I tend to delete out of focus shots, the blur in the middle of this one is a bird coming in to land on the water.

Great view over the water to the Clubhouse
Favourite holes – 9th at Whiteleaf Golf Club
Whiteleaf Golf Club – Hole 9
Whiteleaf is a very nice, if small, 9 hole course amongst the Chiltern Hills. The course is protected from low scoring with small greens and lots of out of bounds as well as some blind approaches.

Club selection is crucial on the 9th hole at Whiteleaf
