Finca Cortesin is ranked as being one of Spain’s best golf courses, the natural Mediterranean landscape, attractive design and superb weather all go towards making the perfect setting for playing golf.
Valderrama Golf Club is simply stunning, you get the impression of a small private club as you drive in and park in the car park. This impression changes as soon as you walk past the amazing Clubhouse out onto the range.
The course winds its way through old Cork Oak and Olive trees with fairways like carpets and putting surfaces faster than the green baize in your local snooker hall. The key to playing well here is going to be leaving your ball below the pin as a downhill putt is the stuff of nightmares.
This weekend I am off on a company golf trip to Puerto Banus. We are playing Los Naranjos and Santa Clara which I am hoping will be a great experience for me as I have never played golf in Spain before.
Los Naranjos was designed by Robert Trent Jones Senior and is widely regarded to be one of Spain’s best courses. At over 7,000 yards it certainly looks to be a genuine championship course which will prove a tough challenge for me as I am suffering with my driving at present. The wide fairways and huge undulating greens may help my regulation statistics but there is also massive expanses of sand and a good many water hazards to avoid. Read more
