Course Review
Pleasant municipal course,
though the 473 yard par 4 uphill 15th was a bit tough for the average
golfer but the fairway's were nice, tees were nice, greens were in good
condition, speaking of greens, they were huge. If you are pretty good
with your irons you are not going to miss these. Unfortunately there is
a lot of water about on this course so if you do become a bit wayward
your ball is going to get wet.
Ken has a biased opinion on the Favourite Hole category seen as on hole 5 he
topped his drive and was left with about 200 yards to go. He took out his 4 iron
and hit a cracking shot that went straight into the hole on the fly, didn't even
touch the green, nice eagle.
The nets on the back nine of this course deserve a mention if you hit your woods
high off the tee you may never get out of them.
Favourite Hole
Hole 4: 219 yard par 3, if they hadn't put the water on the left of this hole then you would not mind taking your 3 iron or 5 wood to reach the green. Unfortunately they did put water and a bunker there so on a windy day you may well find yourself aiming well right of the green on this one.

The course is in very good condition and is a pleasure to play. The greens are
not only large, most of them are pretty difficult with lots of different lines
and gradients. Weakness: tee boxes on 12th and 13th. To protect ball from flying
on adjacent road and houses they have built awful constructions with netting
covering the whole tee. They are way too low and screw up many a fine shot.

I very much like this course. It has all the facilities and its about my standard.
Every time we go there we are impressed with how well the course is maintained.
The only thing that we don't like is the 15th hole. Its a very long par 4. As
yet par on this hole hasn't happened for me. You really need to be a very accurate
big hitter to get par. Basically you need a good drive (250 yards plus). This
will leave you with an up hill shot that you are playing on a down ward slope.
Not easy. So you will need to play a 6 iron 220 yard shot to get on the green.
Possible I'm sure but I've not done it. For me its a par 5. Basically from tee
to hole its 459 yards but this doesn't take into account that it goes up 2 small
hills.
The next hole is good as well. Its a longish par 3. I've lost count of the number
of times I've put a ball in the lake that's just short of the green. I don't
do it so often now but just slightly miss time your tee shot and you are in the
lake!
This course is well worth a visit.

Very good course that provides easy access to golf at every level. Owned by American Golf, this is how a modern day Golf Club should be run in my opinion. Big clubhouse that is used to the maximum not only for golf activities but for a variety of non-golfing events ie: Corporate days, receptions, music nights etc. It clearly provides a good source of income which benefits the course. Very popular Golf Course but the course itself is very well maintained and does not ever appear to be overplayed unlike nearby Pine Ridge for example.
The course itself is very well constructed and well thought out. Wide fairways, water, ditches, large T boxes and huge greens. Although many of the holes appear to be laid out in an up and down direction, because the course is not played in this way the layout does not get boring. A good mix of par 4 short holes, challenging par 3's & strong par 5's. I agree with all the previous reviewers that the par 4, SI 1, 15th is very, very tough. I have pared it but only by playing it very conservatively, on in 3 and a single put, I have never seen anyone on it in 2 and that's playing with some very low single handicappers.
Best time to play is on the 'early bird' ticket during the week which is extremely good value for money, £12 last time I played and back in the clubhouse for a great breakfast (won or lost out on the course). We've even had extra sausage bets for nearest the pin on the 16th. Good value, good course. Very good Society Course.

Have played this course many times, as an enthusiastic amateur. Really enjoyed it every time until recently when the standards of rough, bunkers and greens have gone through the floor - from a match to members clubs, to a poor pay and play. A well designed and very popular course, being killed by a lack of maintenance.

I played Blue Mountain Golf Club on 7th.Sept. this year. I reiterate everything that Mr Clayton said about the condition of the course. It is clear that the maintenance here leaves much to be desired in all areas but particularly on the greens, which are the worst I have played on for a long time. I played at Blue Mountain when it first opened but have not played it for about ten years until recently. I was very disappointed and did not enjoy the day and will not bother to play here again.

Having just returned from a ten day golfing trip to Berkshire & Hampshire I would just like say the experience i had at blue mountain was first class the course was the driest in the area especially as most were closed or had trolley/buggy bans in place. The greens are not only huge but were in fantastic condition.

Good course for the not so good golfer needs better signage plenty of traps but best of all was the breakfast b4 best food by a mile inc members clubs head chef plays a little I hear but what he lacks on the course he makes up for in the kitchen. A must play course just 4 the food.

Have been playing at Blue Mountain for 4-5 years. This is one of the best kept pay & play courses you will find in the area. The reviews that state the poor greens and course condition were very true for a large part of last year. In their defence though, this was due to a fire which wiped out all of their equipment (You will notice a nice new equipment shed that had to be recently re-built)!! The course is back playing very well, and this years nice quantity of rain (not so nice for us though) has seen the course return to form. Well worth a re-visit if you were put off last year or if you are new to the area and looking for an excellent and challenging pay & play course.
