A very friendly little club this, so much so that we forgot to ask about the facilities so if a member happens to read this review could you let us know if we have missed any facilities above. The course starts with a tough par 3 where the green is hidden behind a mound that slopes left to right in front of the green. The second hole is pretty straight forward with just the left to right sloping fairway to negotiate, then comes 'Cardiac Hill' as the members call it, 183 yards in length although it seems like most of that yardage is up.

Hole 3
A look from the bottom of 'Cardiac Hill'.

The 4th requires a pinpoint drive, too far right and you will be out of bounds or have your approach obstructed by overhanging trees, too far left and the sloping fairway will sweep your ball away. The 5th is a blind par 3 but has a bowl shaped green so get anywhere near the target and you should find your ball makes it's way doen to the green. The next hole gives a good chance of a birdie if played from the par 5 tee, stay out of the 'Captains Bunker' and you should be able to creep onto or near to the green with your second shot. The tee shot at the next is a blind one over the 6th green with a sunken path down the middle of the fairway to a sunken green.

Hole 4
Very tricky tee shot at the 4th with a pinpoint landing area.

The 8th is a long par 3 but has little trouble around the green then comes the 9th, think about your club selection here it is a long way downhill so you are not going to need the club you first thought you would need. The fairways were good and so where the greens even if they were left a little long ready to be cut for a competition the next day.

Hole 9
A great view down to the 9th green, take less club than you think.

This maybe a small nine hole course but it gives you a very good test of golf with a few holes needing pin point accuracy, if you want a good test of your golf skills and some good company in the clubhouse afterwards then we would highly recommend Boxmoor.

Favourite Hole

Hole 7:
357 yard par 4 with a blind tee shot and approach.

Hole 7
The hidden green on the 7th hole.

If you have not played here before you may be tempted to walk up the fairway for a look before teeing off, it's a blind drive up a sloping fairway that has a sunken path running down the middle of it. Negotiate this and you are left with a blind approach shot to a sunken green where you need to get the distance right, come up short and you either get stuck in the rough or thrown forward off the bank through the green.

A challenging course not for the faint hearted, hills, turns, blinds spots, tree's, ferarri's passing by...left my dear friend Mr Shutte questioning where I had brought him for a round of golf! Club choice is essential, the 3rd hole may leave you considering what club is missing in your golf bag. Dont leave your trusted driver at home...tested the Taylor Made R7 driver...this is a beast!
