Brent Valley Golf Club - Est 1938
Info correct at last date played: 30th July 1999
Review Rating - Bronze
Municipal parkland course fairly
open with the river Brent coming into play on a few holes. A little up
and down at the start and end but flat in between.
Has a couple of interesting holes on the back nine.
The 11th is a short par 4 dogleg that gives you the choice of laying up just
before the corner of the dogleg or going for it over the ditch that runs across
the fairway.
The 13th is a long par 3 with a very narrow gap between
the trees from the tee just in front of the river Brent.
Favourite Hole
Hole
7:
359 yard par 4.
The drive on this hole is fairly easy as the course
is quite open, you could miss the fairway by a long way on the left and
you would still be OK The river Brent runs along the right hand side of
this hole so you cannot be too far right or you could be in trouble.
It is the approach shot to the green that makes this hole the challenge that
it is. The river runs around the right side of the green and around the back,
on the left of the green is a pond, come up short and you are in the pond at
the front of the green. As if all that is not enough to protect the green a tall
tree is standing in the middle of the fairway right in front of the green.

The first impression of Brent Valley is that it looks easy enough. There is very little deep rough and the fairways are generous.
However, there are many ditches that cross the fairways. You may find yourself having to drop out of one, after your "Sunday best" drive just rolled in.
Apart from the ditches, over club off the tee on the par 3s, or with your second shot on the par 4s, and you'll be OOB or rummaging around in the bushes to find your ball. Every hole has trouble behind the green.
There are some interesting holes on this course. The 11th, 12th, 13th and 14th in particular. The 12th looks like an easy par 3 but, the green is narrow and bunkers guard the approach. Go too far to the right and the River Brent awaits. Too far left and you're left with a very difficult chip onto a green which slopes away from you. Even low handicappers have come to grief on this "easy" hole.
Ealing council have recently invested £100,000 on a new sprinkler system, for the greens. This is not operational yet but, should be within the next week or two. Regardless of this, the greens are in very good condition for a municipal course, at this time of year. Especially considering the heat wave which we are experiencing at the moment.
All in all, it's good value for money. They have a reduced green fee on Mondays. However, it can be very busy on these days.

Simply a superb course and great value for money.

As a 'round the corner' course for our group of players, it is a decent challenge of golf once past the first 3 holes which are rather monotonous. The rest of the course is fun & poses a few different challenges to add a little variety to your round.
The 5th & 6th are fairly long par 4's at 430 odd yards each & with the wind often having a say!! The 8th hole is tempting, as it is drivable as the crow flies with a solid straight shot, but can be tricky as the green is raised.
The 14th is most peoples favourite as the huge tree & lake pose good enough obstacles to deal with, especially if your drive has ended right on the fairway.
Enjoyable & a bargain as green fees are lower than most.

This golf course is a lovely quite straight forward but a challenging golf course with beautiful looked after greens the fairways are average but well looked after. In the winter some of the holes are quite sludgy and muddy but can be avoided. This course is ideal for a saturday morning challenge. It is £135 for a membership per year which is very good at this quality. Miss this, miss out.

Very good course. Very good golf shop, with friendly services. Complete with 2 driving nets, 4 putting holes and a long chipping green. The best hole on my opinion hole 7 as it is across a river and you need a good shot to get the ball high and far, to get over the mighty drop into the river. The holes are well looked after by lots of staff & there will be no vandals on the course thanks to the stewards on the holes.

Brent Valley is an oasis in the midst of an urban jungle. It is is a veritable jewel hidden away from the hustle and bustle of nearby Ealing. Complete with a delightful pub at the 19th with a stunning view overlooking the rolling landscape it is a delight to visit. The golf is a pleasure to walk, though the two long par fours are a reach for most. For such a low fee I was amazed how good shape the course is in. I always try to get a game in when in UK and always have a most pleasurable experience. Last played May 2006.
