Course Review

We were told that the course had just undergone some major changes last year so maybe it has not recovered just yet. The fairways are more like the sort of ground you would expect to play football on at the local park and the greens were just a shorter grass version of the fairways, the tees however were at least raised slightly so some effort had been put in there. We found the middle of the fairway on a few holes and had to actually hunt for the ball!

9th hole
Par 3 9th hole plays long with a strong wind against.

With it's tiny greens this course does give you a good practice at approach shots, on finding the green it is up to you if you bother to try and putt out. So if you fancy a quick practice on your tee shots and approaches then this course will provide that but not much else.

Favourite Hole

Hole 8:
350 yard Par 4.

8th hole
Looking down the fairway of the 8th with the tucked away green.

Probably the best hole on the course with the out of bounds down the left of the hole and the green being tucked away left behind some trees, makes hitting the green just that little bit harder.

Played here in late November, not the best time of year admittedly, to see what changes had been made and the course is certainly not as flat as it used to be. Almost every hole now plays in its own valley, or depression to be more accurate, with a lot of mounds having been built and ground levels raised. I feel an opportunity has been missed here as, having gone to this much bother and expense, the greens should have been enlarged to create more interesting contours on the putting surfaces and the teeing grounds could have been made larger and the hole length, from one nine to the other, more varied.

I noticed only one bunker on the course but most holes could do with a few. Perhaps they will be built in the future. With a bit of thought, and work, several holes could be very good. The 2nd is already a potential card wrecker but could be so much better, the 5th is a nicely shaped dogleg and the one shot 6th and 9th, with a few hazards added, could be memorable. The condition of the course is not great, as noted before, with the "greens" barely puttable but this will no doubt improve with time. Still, credit to the proprieters for, at least, trying.

Okay as practice ground. The whole site looks run down, which is a shame as this could be a very nice 9 hole course. Generally the course was okay, but the greens could do with more care. Not over challenging when compared to some other local 9 hole courses. Played pm Saturday 15 March only two other people in sight.

This could be a nice course if the grounds man took the time to clear the excess grass that they have cut off of the fairways. The most challenging hole is the 5th with 3 water features surrounding the green, the 7th hole (apparently 129 yards) has got to be the shortest I have ever played I would estimate it more like 80 yards with a simple pitch enough to get you on the green. Overall it makes for an ideal practice course for a novice but definitely not challenging enough for a veteran golfer also at 7 pounds a round there is cheaper and much better courses available.
