Course Review

A very nice course with a good mixture of holes, we do like courses where you just can't stand on the tee of every par 4 and whack your favourite wood down the fairway. On this course you have to choose your club wisely.

2nd hole
2nd hole from the tee

The course starts with a nice par 4 dogleg but then you get to the 2nd and find you need a good clean strike to reach the green. The 3rd will have you deciding if it's worth trying to cut the corner and risk the O.O.B. and the 5th is the first hole where you simply cannot just stand on the tee and blast your wood.

We were enjoying ourselves so much that Rick didn't realise how well he was playing, starting with 4, 3, 4, 4, 4 he was only +1 for the first five holes. He was to end that good run of scoring on the 6th. This is a testing par 5, the lake is reachable from the tee so care must be taken, but the hole is short enough for an attempt at getting there in two, if it wasn't for the dry ditch 50 yards short of the green making it very difficult to run a ball in.

The 12th is a very tough hole, even more so if you have the wind against you, a really good drive is needed if you are going to reach the corner and give yourself a view of the green. The 15th is the 'feature hole' of the course with water playing a major part on this and the last two holes.

The condition of the course was superb with greens being a joy to putt on and fairways with no G.U.R. or bare muddy areas. The Clubhouse looks great and the changing and shower facilities were very good. Overall we had a great day.

Favourite Hole

Hole 15:   224 yard par 3 over water.

We thought the 12th was a very good hole but this one does look good from the tee. It looks daunting but the lakes are some way back from the green so it's not as far as you think to clear them, bunkers and mounds on either side make a recovery from a wayward tee shot quite tricky, so you just need a good long straight shot, easy really.

I am looking forward to playing this course with my good friends Huw & Tony, It's just a shame that Gary has found out about the game & has invited himself.Gary has difficulty mixing with other golfers which is an unusual trait in golfing circles.
