Course Review

The course starts with a blind drive down a par 5 but a good tee shot down the left will catch the sloping fairway & give you a chance of reaching the green in two. The 2nd is a long par 4 where you need to stay right to miss the trouble. The next two par 4's are not long but need good placement from the tee to give you a nice approach. The 6th needs a long drive down the right to leave the green visible and the 7th is quite open so you shouldn't find trouble off the tee.

1st hole
The blind drive from the par 5 1st hole.

The 8th gives you an option to drive over the bunker to cut the corner if you can hit it that far and the first nine comes to a close with a picturesque short par 3. The second nine starts with a tempting drivable par 4 but mind the out of bounds and the par 3 that follows it is very well protected.

11th hole
The well protected 11th hole, hit the green here and you have done well.

The next three holes seem to run up & down either next to each other or sometimes sharing a fairway, then comes the Big Dipper 15th followed by an uphill par three that plays longer than it looks. The last two holes are both doglegs to the right that need you to find the elbow of the fairway for a good approach to the greens.

Overall the course was in very good condition, the tees and fairways were great and the greens putted very smoothly but did look a little patchy in places, this did not affect the putting though. The staff & members we met were very approachable and we enjoyed our time here from the moment we drove through the entrance.

Favourite Hole

Hole 15:
616 yard par 5, needs two good shots.

16th hole
The approach to the green on the Big Dipper 15th.

The landing area for your tee shot cannot be seen from the tee but you need a good drive down into the valley, you then need a good second shot to get up the hill and round the corner to get a sight of the green. The final approach is back down the hill so choice of club is essential, you can see why they call it Big Dipper.
