Gerrards Cross is a test of
any golfers ability, with no hole the same as any other. At 6212 yards
(white) it is a good length for par 69 and it's undulating fairways (and
some greens) make for an enjoyable challenge. The course has dramatically
improved over recent years with the introduction of course irrigation
and more defined fairway to rough cutting. The highlight of the round
is probably the par 4 18th (although my favourite is the 14th) which is
a sweeping downhill dogleg to the right with the river misbourne just
before the green. One of those, do you, don't you second shots when hitting
a longer iron into the green.
The only grumbles are the consistency of the bunkers and the greens can be a
little unpredictable in terms of the condition, but are generally good through
the summer months. Off course facilities are also very good as is the hospitality
of the staff. Overall GX represents good value for money as visitor or a member.
N.B. Beware the par 3 5th or as I like to call it 'Cardiac Hill', a buffed drive
by any of your party represents a nice rest halfway up the hill!!!

Please note the 18th at Gerrards Cross is a dogleg to the left NOT to the right.

The bunkers were all renovated during Spring 2003 and are now consistant and
of high quality.
