Course Review
Public pay & play course that in the summer is quite a pleasant place to play. The greens and fairway's are normally in good condition and some of the holes are quite picturesque. The downside is in the winter the course does degrade quite a lot with nearly all the greens becoming temporary and the fairway's like farmers fields.
Favourite Hole
Hole 1: We used to play this course when we were learning the game and Rick hit a cracking 5 iron on this hole to within 3 feet of the pin (when you have only been playing a little while that is such a great feeling). Just can't help remembering that when we stand on the first tee each time. It is a nice looking hole anyway, 152 yards all down hill over a little stream to a green cut into a steep bank with bunkers on either side. Behind the green is nothing but trees so there is really no safe place to miss the green.

This place could really be something, the course from May on is great but why
oh why doesn't someone spend a few pounds on the place, the clubhouse is a joke,
it is never clean, full of non golfing boozers who may need reminding it is a
golf course and seem to revel in making visitors its time to leave, great first
few holes, last couple pretty good too.

This course is somewhat of a golfing paradox. The clubhouse has recently been
refurbished at great expense whilst the course remains a shambles.
Clubhouse
The collection of smoking and boozing geriatrics appear to occupy the clubhouse
as if it was their second home. Indeed, for some, now that the refurbishment
has occurred, they may prefer to be there than their own homes.
Golf course
1. The greens are like other courses' fairways, and that's being generous! Avoid
the divot marks on the greens where errant golfers shots have found another green
by mistake and have played their recovery shots from there.
2. The fairways show a lack of maintenance and a lack of funding on decent machinery
and decent green keeping staff. Perhaps the company that manages the course on
behalf of the council economise as much as possible because they know that the
gullible public will continue to play on regardless.
3. Come summer, wait for the beer swilling buggy drivers to career around the
course, and greens (more revenue for the course, more terror for the "normal" golfer)
4. Ditches galore - this shows a clear acceptance that drainage is a problem.
When it rains, the course becomes a quagmire. Previous work on the course to
alleviate the drainage appears to be simply superficial and a further example
of lack of funds.
5. Come summer, the policy of “dress code, what dress code?” will
resurface. There is a clear lack of enforcement of any code whatsoever. If you
ever want to see what the British male looks like at the beach, head for Haste
Hill on a summer’s day. You will be presented with varying definitions
of what the male wearers would class as “shorts” … the length
of which varies from “knee length” to “tight and revealing
hotpants”. As for upper torso wear, you can expect to see T shirts that
will presumably be publicising England at Euro 2004, vests of all types and finally
you will see that the beer belly and tattoos is clearly “de-rigeur” for
some.
6. Come summer, if you want to add to your Anglo Saxon vocabulary, head to Haste
Hill. Strolling across the course you will enjoy the dulcet tones of birdsong
interrupted frequently by loud expletives on a regular basis. If you’re
lucky you may witness players fighting amongst themselves!
7. Come summer, stroll around Haste Hill wearing a hard hat. As golf balls fly
through the air missing their intended fairways, you will discover that the shouting
of the word “Fore” is anathema to the majority of people who play
there. Do not confront the deliverer of the errant shot as it is likely that
you will be met with a torrent of verbal abuse.
I could go on, but by now you
get the idea. Somewhere to avoid.

Now that the club house has been wonderfully refurbished I personally think the
course will receive its old tlc and become as good a course like it use to be.
I am a junior season ticket holder for ruislip, uxbridge and haste hill and I
am very happy with all of them!

Firstly - to confirm what has been said before yes it is true that there does
not appear to be any sort of dress code policy and the standard of play is not
at the highest.
BUT - this is a public course and perfect for those that have only recently
started the game. It is unfortunate that some people playing very obviously
need to hit a driving range first and/or have some lessons but generally
I have found that play moves along quite well.
As someone who is just starting out myself (having only played a couple
of dozen times) it is a very good course with a few nice holes for someone
who sacrifices distance off the tee for accuracy. Or for someone who
is not quite comfortable with a driver unless they have a lot of space
to aim for.
In particular there are a few very short par 4's on the back nine in
which one can, with two well placed iron shots (leaving the driver in
the bag!), hit the green very comfortably.
My favourite hole is the first one as a well struck tee off shot will
set one up nicely for a par to begin the round (always nice to start
on a high). A large green to aim for, and quite sheltered from wind,
etc. That said this is also potentially quite an embarresing hole, especially
as its in front of the club house.
The pin is deceptively far from the tee (and only slightly up hill)
so often shots are played past the green into the trees behind as people
club down to avoid falling short.
Any shot that falls well short will inevitable roll into a small stream
running in front of the hole.
Another nice hole is the long par five in the back 9 (hole 10). Again
this in front of the club house but the fairway is wide and forgiving
so as long as one avoids the trees on either side its usually a straightforward
two shots to the green, and not beyond the range of a fair hitter to
come close to reaching in two.
And finally - this a great course for someone picking up the game because
as long as one is considerate to people behind and doesn't hack their
way up a hole people are generally quite forgiving.

Firstly, golf cart hire is available but not all the year round. Secondly, in the winter, there would be no more than two temporary greens, and the fairways are far removed from being like farmers fields.

Recently organised a Society of 24 on a Saturday. Gail and Cameron were most helpful with the arrangements. It had poured down all week previous but surprisingly, although the course was a bit wet/muddy in places, it certainly was not as boggy as I have seen it in previous winters. One temporary green and playing off mats could not dampen everyone's spirits and a most enjoyable day was had at a fair price. One downside however - most had the all day breakfast, the quantity of which was far too small; some even ordered a lunch on top!

Recently playing the course I found the greens exceptional, the fairways trimmed to perfection, the rough long in places which added to the test. the club house was superb and the staff were all welcoming and friendly to myself and the fourball I played with. cant wait to return!!!

I play here regularly, and I think some of the adverse comments are unfair. After all, you get what you pay for, and here what you get is a decent golfing experience at a cheap price. I played through most of last winter, and although it can get somewhat muddy after rain, it remained very playable and we rarely had more than 1 temporary green. The fairways are variable in quality though most are ok.

I played here last Sunday and the course was in a horrendous condition. The fairways were sometimes bare with little patches of grass, many bunkers had no sand in them (I nearly broke my wrist and club in one of them because the surface was like concrete). The greens were terrible and its really a shame that the course has been overplayed and left to rot so badly. One of the holes has half the fairway as GUR. The worst bit is having to fork out £24 to play such a poorly kept course. The one-good thing is that the clubhouse is miles better and the service is friendly and excellent. But I really want value for money and this is not what I expected. Hillingdon Council and the managers of this golf course should hang their heads in shame.

Hi I played at this golf course last week and for the money that you fork out it is in a very poor standard. The fairways are not cut short enough and if you go into the rough good luck you wont get your ball out! apart from that the greens are ok!

I have played Haste Hill a few times now, only to leave feeling ripped off. The last time I played here, I took a friend for the first time, he was so disgusted in the state of the fairways we never finished the round. This is a real shame, because Haste Hill could be a very nice golf course.

Played here 18 OCT...tee time 10:30. Great course well manicured, nice greens and well manicured. The greens were a little slow and spongy but the previous 3 days had seen rain. My golf buddy and I like it better than Wycombe Heights and the fees are quite reasonable....Very nice clubhouse!

Played here 11/02 and found course to be in good condition. On a frosty morning we found no temporary greens and fairways that were fine (if a touch boggy in places). The greens were not in great condition but were adequate for the time of year. The main bonus if the fact that it is only 12 quid a round. This is half the price of some courses but you do not get the great scenery that Haste Hill offers. All in all, good value on a decent course.
