For a Public Pay & Play
course Little Hay is a very good golf complex. The course itself was in
good condition, greens are good and undulating in parts. The fairway's
were cut a little long for June but were not too bad, some of the holes
are very hilly in places with blind tee shots on a few of them. There
is not much water here just one man made pond about 6ft x 6ft on the 10th
hole. The practice facilities here were great, a nice driving range, pitching
and putting practice areas too, for just over £10 a round very good
value for money.
The only bad thing about this course was the changing room facilities, they were
tiny, about as big as the man made pond, we ended up not having a shower after
our round and changing in the car park. If not for the very poor changing room
facilities we would have given the course a better rating.
Favourite Hole
Hole 12: A short par 5 but an interesting one.

- The par 5 12th hole, when against the wind can play very long.
A large oak tree about 180 yards from the tee just in front of where the fairway
starts comes into play on the tee shot. You have to play right of this tree unless
you are a mighty hitter and can clear it with your drive.
Now the trouble with playing right of this tree is the fairway then bends round
to the left just after the tree so hit a long straight drive down the right and
you will run out of fairway. The fairway on this hole doglegs to the left and
then to the right, so placement up the fairway is important. Bunkers protect
the front of the green discouraging going for the green with your second shot,
so you will find even though it is not a long par 5 you will still be playing
for the green on your third shot.

The 6 hole pitch and putt course is great for kids (85 - 105 yard holes).
Nick Allen the Resident pro is a great teacher too.

A good course for a public pay & play. Green fees are now £14.95 (April 2007) but this is excellent value for what is now a quite mature course. Best hole is 12th, followed by 9th, and agree that changing facilities are poor. Cheap is not always rubbish. Try it!

Played this course in January 2007 looking for a society course that we have not played in the area. Course was in good condition for this time of year. Greens should some slight damage from a fungal disease attack but stilled played well. Little Hay is now managed by Dacorum Sports Trust and they are planning quite a big investment on the course and the clubhouse.Staff were very helpful. Favourite hole for me was the 3rd par 5 with excellent views across the valley. Played the course after 11.00 a.m for £11.80. Excellent value for money. Will return in the Spring with the golf society. Agree with the comment about the changing rooms.

Played little hay for first time on October 15th. New clubhouse is now open and food is very good. The course has had over £300,000 invested in it over the last 3 years. Greens run fast ant true. Fairways were slightly long and had a good cover of grass. Good facilities with a 23 bay driving range, practice bunker and a par three course. Green fees are very good value at £14.20 after 11.00.a.m.I have been told that they do not have temp.greens in the Winter.
