Course Review

Don't come here expecting a supreme conditioned course. Northolt is a good place to come and practice but that is about it.

The fairways are non existent and the tee areas could do with smartening up, but we did play during the winter so perhaps they get better in the summer. You would think looking at this course putting would be a lottery as well but to our surprise the greens were in good condition and certainly rolled well, the green keeper is doing a good job. We were told to say the owner was a miserable b*****d but (nobody offered us any money for this so) he and the members we met on the day made us feel very welcome.

If you have just taken up golf and need a local place to practice this would be the ideal choice, but be warned we were told it gets very busy on the weekends.

Favourite Hole

Hole 7: 113 yard par 3.
This and the 8th were probably the holes that stood out amongst the rest.
I know, how can such a short hole be a good one? Well there is water right in front of the green and water right behind the green, with the greens not being very big anyway you had better get your yardages right or your ball is going to get wet.

The small greens are this courses most effective defence therefore to score well your short game will have to be sharp. This is no "pitch and putt" course with medium irons having to be used on several holes. Both the par 4's play a bit longer than the card suggests as a ditch crosses both holes at about 200 yards limiting the length of most player's drives. The course is as flat as a pancake but it seems to drain well and the greens although not fast, roll well. The lack of contours and the limited space do not allow any holes to be real standouts but, as noted before, the 7th with a pond that is really a wide ditch in front, sand behind and out-of-bounds a few yards to the right and the 8th which requires a five or six iron to reach a well bunkered, tiered green will get your attention.
