Porthpean Golf course is a friendly semi links course situated in St Austell Bay. It has a Par of 67 (35 & 32), 11 Par 4's, 6 Par 3's and 1 Par 5. The front nine lead you away from the coast and into some wonderful countryside, as for the back nine, you walk through the hedge after the tenth and the view is breathtaking. This is an undulating course with more ups than downs. The 5th is my favourite hole, a good Par 4 with a water hazardrunning the length of the hole on the left, Out Of Bounds on the right and a large oak tree in the middle of the fairway. The tree is situated at good driving range: get close though and you'll be in trouble. The green is 2 tiered and has a bank to the left and back. You cannot afford to go left of the green as your ball will find the water, you will be punished as well if you overshoot the green as there is only 10 yards between the back of the green and the Perimeter hedge. Full membership is available at the course, £90 joining fee and £240 a year membership. Non-members pay £12.50 for 18/all day, and £5.70 for 9 holes. This is a tricky course with a very unforgiving rough. Straight is the rule here.

I have been a member at this club for approx; 3yrs, and I can honestly say it was one of the best decisions I made.
I belong to the Seniors section which is well organised by our Captain Derek Way, we have various competitions throughout the year on a Tuesday morning, I am now beginning to get a name as a bit of a bandit, playing off 26, I have just recently won the January Medal..and repeated that achievement by winning the February Medal...my favourite hole has got to be the Par 3 15th nearly always score well in Stableford on this one...and in November had a hole-in-one off the Yellow Tees.
The club has just been recently been acquired by Roger French and is in the process of going through many changes, the clubhouse itself provides good food by a very happy staff..if you are in the area I would highly recommend you make a visit enjoy the facilities and play a round...the inward 9 provides panoramic views of St Austell Bay.

For a bit of fun try the 9 hole white course it's evil.
