View back down the first hole.

Quite a hilly parkland municipal course.

The 1st is quite a challenging hole as the distance is hard to judge because of the height difference from tee to green. Then comes the wonderful view from the 3rd tee, just don't hit any passing cars on that road.

Hole 5
The cliff face you have to play up on the 5th.

The 5th deserves a mention, being so short you could be forgiven to thinking you have a great chance for a birdie here. Well you would probably be quite happy getting off that green with a par. The tee shot is not for the faint hearted & the green is anything but flat.

Hole 7
The short par 3 seventh, played through the trees.

The next hole to stand out is the 12th, the tee shot is blind and with over 200 yards to the green you need to be accurate as it is well protected by bunkers, hit the green here & you will be quite pleased with yourself.

Hole 15
Play back across the road and valley for the par 3 15th.

The closing holes are alright and the 15th deserves a mention, it's time to play back across that valley & road but this time you have to hit the green of the par 3 instead of a fairway, a very tough tee shot.

They have had a Lottery Sports Grant since we last visited and have improved the course quite a bit. The course has connections with the Golf Foundation and is heavily invovled in the development of Junior Golf including a Golf Acadamy where you can work on all aspects of your short game, you can even warm up on the Par 3 'Little Ricky' course.

Overall some very nice holes and scenery but the 18 holes are an energy sapping walk.

Favourite Hole

Hole 3:Not a long par 4 but a very nice looking one.

Hole 2
View across the road and valley from the second tee.

Starting from a raised tee you aim over a road passing through a sort of valley and back up to a fairway that is about 60 degrees to the teeing area. If you hit the fairway then you should be left with just a short iron to the green, but do not miss the green to the left or you will lose your ball down what looks like a good 80 foot drop.

5th Hole - The Wall of Death
Not a big hole by any means but the low tee positions and the 50ft bank of bracken make this a challenge. Not for the faint hearted.

I find this course a great course for low handicap players. It is short but it lives up to its nickname of tricky ricky with alot of hills and very hard lies. I give this course a thumbs up.

Some testing little holes, enjoyed every minute. Especially the 1st and 5th holes.

I have great affection for this course as this is where one left handed 28+ handicapper first broke 100 and in some style shooting a 95 then days latter a 90! Not only that I par'd the hardest hole! Highly recommended and great fun.

Broke my 100 virginity here (07.03.08). Course not that long, but has some teating holes. Excellent to good condition as far pay and play courses go (have played at some horrors). Under new management. Overall well worth a visit.

Played here Sunday 12th June 2011 - It rained all day after it had rained all night, the greens remained quick and overall had excellent drainage. Didn't see one puddle on the course. I broke my 100 here earlier this year but not this time (104) but that was, of course, the fault of the weather! A very nice course that you can usually go round in under the 4 hours. See you soon 'Tricky Ricky'
