Course Review

Municipal parkland course with tee-lined fairway's, but not much water. A word of warning if you do not like slow play then this course may not be for you.

Favourite Hole

Hole 2:   Par 5 that is reachable in 2.
This par 5 is a straight drive down the fairway which then bends off to the left and falls away downhill. With a good drive and a long second shot you can get the ball to roll down that hill and onto the green.

Terrible Course. Flat, many temporary greens in the winter, over priced, (even at 13.50 weekday), bad fairways, little challenge to even a mid handicapper and to top it dirty facilities in the club house. Go to Haste Hill or Uxbridge, which at the same price offer so much more value for money.

I've played Ruislip three times in 2005 and in contrast with the outward appearance of the main building, I was surprised to find the course to be enjoyable, in sound condition, and the fees excellent value for money. I also found the pro shop staff to be friendly and helpful.

In my opinion, the par 3s are its best feature. I would recommend avoiding play on weekends before twilight as it's a very busy course. I would also say that golfers with handicaps of 18 and above or beginners would get the most enjoyment from this course. It's a useful course to know if you live in London and don't have a car, as the course is only a short walk from the local Central line tube stop.

It also has a covered golf range, which adjoins two fairways, and is competitively priced. However, I wouldn't recommend a special trip just for the range as it doesn't compare too favourably with the nearby range just off the A40 on Rowdell Road or Dukes Meadows nr. Chiswick Bridge.

One of the hardest courses in the area, for the extremely narrow greens & out of bounds on 14 holes. A very hard start & finish (2 long par 3s, 190+yards & narrow par 4, surrounded by Out of Bounds/ tree lined). In great condition currently (Greens are as good as any private club). Great test of golf from the white tees (yellow tees too short). Any club golfers, it worth entering the Ruislip Open on the 1st Saturday in every July (contact the club on 01895638835 for details). I'm sure your enjoy the golfing experience of the Ruislip Open (we play in it every-year & its great value).
