Course Review

When we visited the showers were being refurbished so we had to take this into account on our review scores.

17th holeThe course overall had good tee areas, great sculpted bunkers, not just round holes in the ground and good greens. The fairways were ok but the grass was a little long, maybe it was just the time of year that we played.

The course is for the most part very open and with not that many mature trees you can get away with the odd wayward shot, as long as it's not anywhere near the water hazards that scatter the course.

We felt the course had a good variety of holes but seemed a little flat, bunkers were very strategically placed on many holes which meant that club choice was a big factor, the 17th being a good example.

There are a couple of holes on the back nine that are not quite as open as the front and you will be punished for wayward shots here.

18th holeWe thought the par 3's where great on this course with water and bunkers well placed to protect the greens. The par 5's are good opportunities for birdies or easy pars and some of the longer par 4's require solid shots to get to the green in two.

The 18th is a good finishing hole with trees that look like they are in the middle of the fairway, a good drive and you could probably clear them but the suggested route is down the left.

The staff at the club were very friendly and helpful it was just a shame we couldn't freshen up afterwards, the members we met during our round were very friendly to us and we were allowed to play through two groups. Overall we enjoyed the experience.

Favourite Hole

Hole 8:   168 yard par 3 with an imposing lake.

Hole 8Depending on pin position this hole can be quite daunting, the lake protects nearly the entire green, just a few feet on the right is unguarded.

If you do decide to bail out on the right there are a couple of bunkers waiting for the over cautious and if you end up in one of these bunkers you are then left with a nightmare bunker shot that if hit too far will see your ball plunge into the lake. The only safe area on this hole is behind the green but then again chipping back towards the lake can look terrifying.
