Course Review
The course has some nice touches to start with, a bag of grass seed & dirt at the 1st tee for you to carry round with you to repair your own divots and coloured flags on the greens to indicate where the pin is cut. The greens here were very good and produced smooth fast rolling putts but the fairways let the course down slightly as they had a lot of moss & clovers on them instead of just grass.

- Looking down the hill to the 1st green.
The 1st gives you a good look at the rest of the course and also a good chance to get off to a good start with it being all downhill to the green even a miss hit shot should get over half way down the fairway. The 2nd however is a very tough par 4 that requires two solid shots to reach the green. The 3rd hole looks tight and has an encroaching tree on the left but the right to left sloping fairway should help you aim away from the tree.

- Sloping fairway and encroaching tree of the 3rd hole.
The 4th hole needs a straight shot from the tee as the trees on either side of the fairway could obstruct your approach, apart from that it's a straight forward par 5. The first par 3 is not a long one but can be deceiving in length and depending on where the pin is it can be tricky. The 6th is an easy par 4 but the sloping fairway and the slight dogleg of the 7th makes up for the previous hole. The 8th is a long par 3 but it's all downhill so club selection can be a nightmare, one word of advice, it's much better to come up just short than to be long.

- Looking down to the 8th green from the tee.
The 9th is a nice dogleg with a sloping fairway that also rolls up and down, anything right of the green on the approach has a good chance of bounding back towards the putting surface. The flag on the 10th cannot be seen from the tee so if you want to know if the pin is on the front, middle or back you are going to have to walk up to it. I wouldn't bother personally just try to hit the green. The 11th has a huge dip halfway down the fairway that then climbs up to the green so the approach shot can be tricky to judge. The par 5 that follows has a sloping left to right fairway with a bunker on the right, so missing this bunker becomes a priority from the tee, once negotiated the rest of the hole offers little danger.

- The crater in which the 10th green is situated.
The 13th is an uphill par 3 so judgment is needed on what club to use and you do not want to miss the green on the right. The 14th is a straight par 4 that has a green tucked away slightly to the right, this hole was a full left to right dogleg when we played it but we were playing to the winter green. The 15th needs a good tee shot to get up over the hill, once over the green can be reached but do not go left. The 16th is another plus 200 yard par 3 slightly uphill that has bunkers guarding the front that make running your tee shot in to the green very difficult.

- The sloping fairway of the par 5 12th hole.
The 17th is a right to left dogleg with a huge dip in the middle, put your tee shot down the right and you will have a very long approach, get it down the left and you will have a nice short iron to the green. The final hole is a short par 4 that has a huge left to right sloping fairway, the trouble is you can't aim too far left as the clubhouse is within reach from the tee. The staff and members we met were very pleasant and we enjoyed the day very much. The facilities were very good too with superb showers so apart from the fairways the course was great.
Favourite Hole
Hole
10:
246 yard yard blind par 3.

- An indication of the depth of the crater in which the 10th green is set.
We both hit the middle of the green on this hole, with different types of shots too, so maybe that biased our decision but we still think it's a great hole. Ken hit a high 5 wood that seemed to come straight down on to the green while Rick hit a low 3 iron that bounced a couple of times before disappearing. The green is set in what looks like an old bomb crater with the flag totally hidden from view from the tee. The slope down to the green is cut very short though so you only have to just reach the edge of the crater and you should find yourself on the green. This is just one of those holes that makes you congratulate yourself when you hit the green.
