Course Review
A
pleasant but surprisingly flat course considering it is set in the Chiltern
Hills. The course was in great condition and you could not fault the
fairways, tees or greens.
The course is quite open in places, the 1st & 2nd have bail out areas
if you miss the fairway and the first tricky hole is actually the shortest
on the course, the 4th. Depending on pin position this can be a very
hard green to hit and stay on.
The 5th has water on both sides of the green so your approach shot needs
to be good and the 7th if played sensibly will give you a good chance
for a birdie.
The
back nine, we thought, were a little less interesting apart from the 15th & 16th
holes.
The 15th is a right angle dogleg where you can,
if you so wish, try to cut the corner. If you don't and play straight
up the fairway you could be left with a shot of 200 yards over the pond
in front of the green.
This pond is right in front of the 16th tee so
does not really come into play, but it is the gap in the trees to the
green that can be intimidating.
As mentioned the course is quite flat and so makes for easy walking but
this means that if the wind gets up things can start to get a bit difficult
Favourite Hole
Hole
6:
168 yards to a raised green.
I think this probably got chosen in front of hole 15
because Rick had such a great shot here, about 2 feet from the pin.
There are three bunkers, two mounds and water on the right to think
about as you tee off over the 5th green.
