Weybrook Park Golf Club - Est 1992
Info correct at last date played: 30th March 2001
Review Rating - Bronze
Nice open course with some
long par 4's.
It is a new course (with a nice new clubhouse) so there are a lot of tree plantations
along the fairways that in time will make the course less open, but the condition
of the fairways was quite good for this time of year. We played off the mats
so can't comment on the tee areas but they looked fine to us. The only downside
to the course was the greens, well we call them that but they were not very green.
Hardly any grass at all on some of them but they were surprisingly quick and
the ball ran very true on some of them.
Favourite Hole
Hole
16: 328 yards over a valley which looks great from the
tee.
Quite a simple hole really but we just liked the look of it. Your drive will
put you in the valley and you are left with an uphill shot of just over 100 yards
(it looks further) to the green which you will not be able to see. Unless you
take an iron from the tee which will leave you a longer approach over the valley
to the green. You will have to be careful on your approach to the green as there
is not much room behind and a bunker will catch anything falling short.

As a member, interested in the review but clearly out of date! Yes, the greens were not good 3 years ago but are now recognised as some of the best in the area - actually astounding condition even during this last winter. The course gets better and better thanks to green staff and it plays all year round thank to chalk base....all those things combine to a nearly full membership...pretty rare these days...need I say more!

When recently moving to the area, was looking for a golf course that was not only challenging but also offered a fantastic putting surface. The greens and fairways are very well maintained. If you are looking for a friendly and welcoming atmosphere with a challenging round of golf, I recommend this course above many I have played.

I cannot stress enough how enjoyable playing Weybrook park is from a `members` point of view. Since opening, we have had Justin Rose, Retief Goosen, Paul Mcginley, Peter Hedblom, Howard Clark and Paul Broadhurst all play exhibition rounds and comment on what a good course it is. Retief Goosen is now an honoury member and has even donated the signed flag from the 18th green of his first US open win, which adorns the wall above the bar. Each year the course improves, thanks to the green keeping staff and the natural maturing process. Every visitor comments on the year round playability and especially the speed and conditions of the greens during the summer months and rightly deserves the tag of best course in the area.

Played here April 2005 with a society and in truth, it came up to expectations. Newish course which is devoping nicely, and with a number of long par 4's, most also with a dog-leg!, in fact the front 9 off whites is over 3500 yards. Whilst never to be in the league of the greats, it is a good challenge, a warm welcome and one that is to be enjoyed.

Given that the initial review of our course was nearly 5 years ago, It would be interesting to see what your reviewer would have to say about Weybrook Park now. Perhaps the most noticeable improvement is in the quality of the greens. However the general development work carried out over the last few years (including aesthetic/functional things like adding a few paths) coupled with its growing maturity has given the course more definition and helped improve the reputation of Weybrook Park amongst visitors and members alike. To add to this, the designs for the new nine holes look fantastic!

I am a junior member at weybrook and I joined in mid august. I have played other courses in the area and I'd say non of the greens or fairways come close to the ones at weybrook. Also, the members at weybrook are some of the most friendliest people I have met. I think it is a great course and very challenging and even better after the new back nine is made.

I have moved to Basingstoke recently and have been looking to join a club, I have played all the local clubs more than once and have been very impressed with Weybrook Park. The tees, fairways and greens are near championship condition (in summer). A small clubhouse but very welcoming. My Favourite hole is the 2nd, which is long Par 4 of over 430 yards, with a good size fairway to hit into a hard two tiered green. I play off 7 and struggled to get round in 9 over when the wind came up. This golf course is well worth a round, and the price is well worth it.

I have been a member at weybrook park for about two years now and i belive that weybrook park is one of the best courses in basingstoke. the greens are superb and the green keepers work so hard to keep the course up to scratch.
