Course Review
Nice 9 hole course, set in the Chilterns this course is a little up and down. All the fairways are tree-lined and there is quite a lot of O.O.B. on the right of many fairways (not good for slices). The greens are not massive but about right for the size of the course and there are some blind approaches from the fairway's.

- The 1st green tucked away out of view.
The 1st has a nice wide fairway for the drive but the approach is blind down to the green, while the 2nd has out of bounds on the right and the fairway slopes left to right. The 3rd has the same sloping fairway but a little more room on the right, then comes the 4th. You have to get you tee shot down the left as the fairway is a kind of S bend shape and being on the right will put you behind the tree line with the green out of view.

- Bunkers in front of the 5th green.
The 5th is a nice par 3 that is well protected by sand and the 6th fairway is the same as the 1st, nice and wide but the further left you go the harder the approach, with trees and a bunker to negotiate from the left side. The 7th hole is quite a short par 4 if you manage to carry the gully to the fairway but the 8th is a monster of a par 3, if you get a par here it is going to feel more like a birdie.

- The approach to the 6th green which gets tricky from the left side.
The staff at the club were very friendly and so were the members we met during our round. The course was also in great shape for the time of year and being set on chalky ground it drains well. Fairways and greens were in very good condition and were a delight to play on, overall a very nice little 9 hole course that has a lot of care gone in to keeping it that way.
*The land was donated by a Mrs Phillips in 1904, but there were only 3 holes then. The full 9 holes and members club was established in 1924.
Favourite Hole
Hole 9: 168 yard par 3.

- Come up just short of the green and you will find yourself at the bottom of the hill.
A nice length par 3 and a difficult club selection. The tee and green are raised with a sort of valley in between. If you fall short of the green by even one foot your ball runs back all the way down a slope into the valley and you are left with a 40 yard pitch back up to the green.

I hope this will continue for years to come.

Sorry for my previous comments I was not aware it would
send the e-mail never mind display it. In all honesty the course is very enjoyable
for the youth of today.

Great for those who can't drive 220yrds. Very scenic but not too wooded. A fair
challenge! Some members are a bit stuffy though.
