Favourite holes – 6th at Heythrop Park
Heythrop Park – Hole 6
The 6th at Heythrop Park is the signature hole of the course and I must admit standing on the tee looking down the fairway it does look a great golf hole.

Hinksey Heights Golf Club moving up in my view
I last played Hinksey way back in 2001 and I must admit the course has improved a lot while still providing some great views of Oxford. The fairways have been flattened out so they are no longer covered with unsightly bumps and the greens are silky smooth to putt on.

Great views of the surrounding Oxrfordshire countryside
Favourite holes – 18th at Wentworth (East)
Wentworth East Course – Hole 18
The East course at Wentworth maybe overshadowed by its Championship hosting younger brother but it does have some wonderful holes along its layout.

Favourite holes – 9th at Whiteleaf Golf Club
Whiteleaf Golf Club – Hole 9
Whiteleaf is a very nice, if small, 9 hole course amongst the Chiltern Hills. The course is protected from low scoring with small greens and lots of out of bounds as well as some blind approaches.

Fancy a game at Augusta National home of the Masters
You may not be able to get a round at Augusta National in Georgia but you can play the 12th & 16th Augusta ‘Tribute’ holes at Northwick Park in Harrow, Middlesex.
The Majors course at Northwick Park was voted the UK’s top 9-hole course in 2009, it’s superb greens and accurately crafted replications of the key holes at Major Championship venues like Royal Troon, The Belfry, Royal Birkdale and of course Augusta make the layout a great challenge at a very affordable price.

Review of the Forest of Arden Golf Resort
Set among acres of breathtaking natural landscape the Arden course has you negotiating a route around a number of lakes while also avoiding, gorse, trees and deer. From the Championship tees, the Arden measures 7,213 yards, demanding quality ball striking to find the outstanding putting surfaces.

Review of Theale Golf Club
Theale is a new parkland layout in Berkshire just outside of Reading, it is mostly flat but does offer some challenging holes with well positioned hazards.

The gap between the trees can get pretty tight in the summer

Strolling the fairways of Puerto Banus
This weekend I am off on a company golf trip to Puerto Banus. We are playing Los Naranjos and Santa Clara which I am hoping will be a great experience for me as I have never played golf in Spain before.

Los Naranjos Golf Club
Los Naranjos was designed by Robert Trent Jones Senior and is widely regarded to be one of Spain’s best courses. At over 7,000 yards it certainly looks to be a genuine championship course which will prove a tough challenge for me as I am suffering with my driving at present. The wide fairways and huge undulating greens may help my regulation statistics but there is also massive expanses of sand and a good many water hazards to avoid. Read the rest of this entry »
